Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in India has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The greenfield investment spans 50,000 square meters and will increase the company's production capacity by 30%. The facility, scheduled for completion in 2027, brings together advanced manufacturing capabilities, R&D with extensive testing facilities, application engineering support, a Customer Solutions Center, supply chain operations, and global IT services under one roof for the first time.
The 30,000 square meter building will manufacture PTFE products, rotary shaft seals, mechanical face seals, polyurethane (PU) sealing solutions, and other products serving aerospace, agriculture, automotive, construction, fluid power, industrial automation, oil, gas & energy, railways, and semiconductor industries. The facility will operate under international certifications including AS/EN 9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and is designed to lower environmental impact while generating hundreds of jobs and fostering regional economic development.
Trelleborg established its first manufacturing facility in Bengaluru in 2005, serving local and global customers with high-performance sealing solutions. Over the past two decades, the company has delivered consistent, sustained growth, supported by strong engineering, a focus on localization, rising market demand, customer proximity, and India's strategic role in global supply chains. The new facility positions Trelleborg as one of the few multinational companies that can manufacture a broad, diverse product portfolio locally for both Indian and global markets. India's Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development extended his best wishes to the management team, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting the engineered polymer solutions sector.
The new facility will manufacture Polyurethane (PU) sealing solutions, reinforcing the expanding role of PU materials across India's industrial, automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors, which directly supports the broader PU raw material market for MDI and polyether polyols.
