Changhua Chemical has successfully shipped the first batch of product from its new 80,000 tonne/year carbon dioxide-based Polyether Polyols unit. This marks a key step in the company's green and low-carbon chemical strategy and the official commercial launch of its self-developed Carnol® Polyether Polyols. Leveraging years of polymer material R&D and process innovation, the Carnol® Polyether Polyols use industrially captured carbon dioxide as a feedstock. They are suitable for a wide range of applications in the automotive, soft furnishings, footwear, and apparel industries, providing downstream customers with low-carbon, high-performance green raw materials.

In recent years, Changhua Chemical has adhered to its mission of 'Creating Green Chemistry, Shaping a Better Future with Carbon,' and has been fully committed to promoting the deep integration of carbon resource utilization and the new materials industry.
The company's Lianyungang CO2-based Polyether Polyols project utilizes ECONIC's proprietary catalyst and its own low-temperature, low-pressure polymerization technology. The resulting products feature a narrow molecular weight distribution, no catalyst residue, and viscosity better suited for downstream applications. Product samples have passed application verification by several key customers. Current market demand is strong, and the products are highly favored by downstream clients.
The company's overall plan for its CO2-based Polyether Polyols project targets a total annual capacity of 1.06 million tonnes. Once fully operational, it is expected to utilize approximately 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually as a resource. With CO2-based Polyether Polyols at the core of its industrial chain layout, Changhua Chemical aims to further drive the green upgrade of the global industry and implement national dual-carbon policies.
