EU Initiates Anti-Dumping Investigation into 1,4-Butanediol from China

On June 6, 2025, the European Commission (EC) announced that it has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) originating in China, Saudi Arabia, and the United States in response to a complaint lodged on 3 April 2025 by INEOS Solvents SA. The product allegedly being dumped is classified under CN codes 2905 39 26 and 2905 39 28. The investigation of dumping and injury will cover the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024. The examination of trends relevant for the assessment of injury will cover the period from 1 January 2021 to the end of the investigation period. The provisional measures may be imposed not later than seven months, but in any event not later than eight months.
