On March 18, the first batch of qualified products from Sinochem Dongda’s 240 ktpa polyether polyol facility was successfully yielded. Through rigorous testing, these products met the premium grade standards and were smoothly delivered, marking the successful commissioning of the new facility.
The facility is a key project launched by Sinochem’s chlor-alkali business group in Quanhui Petrochemical Industrial Park, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is an important part of Sinochem’s strategic layout during the 14th Five-Year Plan. Leveraging its existing facilities for manufacturing propylene oxide, ethylene oxide styrene and other chemicals, along with well-developed infrastructure, the company aims to build an intensive and efficient green chemicals industry chain. By integrating upstream and downstream resources, the project will effectively increase added value to products and promote the sustainable development in the chemical industry.
Sinochem Dongda is a leading enterprise in Chinese polyurethane industry. Its products include flexible high resilience polyols, CASE polyols, flexible slabstock polyols, rigid cross-linked polyols, polymer polyols and many others, widely used in automotive and bullet train interiors, bridge expansion joints, cable coatings, eco-friendly food packaging sealants, textiles, waterproof materials, and high-end upholstered furniture, among other fields. Sinochem Dongda has maintained a significant lead domestically and internationally in terms of material control, process monitoring, and quality stability.
The newly commissioned facility is built upon Sinochem Dongda’s self-developed advanced production process, which has undergone innovation and automated control upgrades, resulting in more stable quality products with lower energy and material consumption.
Since commenced in early 2024, Sinochem’s chlor-alkali business group has smoothly achieved construction acceleration and met the goal of starting and completion within the same year.
After the project’s completion, Sinochem Dongda’s polyether polyol capacity will increase to 640 ktpa, further enhancing its competitive edge in differentiated and high-end polyurethane segments. This expansion will increase its market share in the East and South China regions, boost high-end polyurethane and relevant industries in Quanzhou, and elevate the competitiveness of the local petrochemical industry.
