PUdaily | Updated: February 10, 2025

Imports

According to the General Administration of Customs, in 2024, China imported 266,000 tonnes of propylene oxide, down 22.9%. this is a result of the sharp decline in import volume in the third quarter due to adequate domestic supply. The monthly import volumes in 2024 were closer than in 2023.
The top three sources of imports were the United States, Thailand and Saudi Arabia, from which China imported 90,821 tonnes, 80,775 tonnes and 38,016 tonnes of PO, respectively.

Exports
In 2024, the volume of China's PO exports totalled 13,000 tonnes, rising significantly from prior year. The significant growth is a result of China re-exporting 9,000 tonnes of PO from Sumitomo (Saudi Arabia) to Sumitomo (Japan).
Excluding Japan, the top three destinations for China's PO exports were India, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, to which China exported 3,465 tonnes, 293 tonnes and 156 tonnes of PO, respectively.
