Advanced Petrochemical Co. (Advanced) is scheduled to commence commercial operations on November 3, 2024, for its newly constructed pipeline, which will transfer associated gas from its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit to the ethylene plant operated by Jubail United Petrochemical Co. (United).
In an official statement to Tadawul, Advanced highlighted that the project is expected to enhance operational efficiency and capitalize on the conversion of associated gases into value-added chemicals. This initiative will also contribute to the growth of the local economy. The financial impact of the project is anticipated to be reflected in the company’s Q4 2024 earnings, depending on the prevailing prices of the associated materials.
Advanced, in partnership with United—an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC)—successfully executed this innovative project, fostering industrial integration with national companies. The initiative aims to improve the utilization of natural resources such as energy and feedstock, while supporting integrated projects in Jubail Industrial City. Furthermore, the project aligns with the adoption of the circular carbon economy model.
As part of its broader strategy, Advanced plans to explore further collaborations with local companies to enhance the value of by-products generated during operations. The company also aims to increase operational efficiency within Jubail Industrial City and advance its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
In March 2023, Advanced awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract valued at SAR 50.98 million (excluding VAT) to Gas Arabian Services Co. (GAS). The contract covers the construction of the pipeline to transport associated gas, rich in high-value chemicals, from Advanced’s facility to United, according to data from Argaam.
