Knauf Insulation Romania said on Wednesday that it has finalised the construction of a mineral glass wool factory worth around 140 million euro ($154.6 million) in the central city of Tarnaveni, Mures county.
The plant, which will be commissioned by the end of the year, has an annual production capacity of around 75,000 tonnes of mineral glass wool and will serve the internal and the external markets in the region, Knauf Insulation said in a press release. The factory will employ more than 100 staff.
Knauf began the construction of this new factory last year, after in 2022 it bought a mineral glass wool factory in Tarnaveni from local peer Gecsat and invested more than 4 million euro in its overhaul, increasing its output from 7,000 tonnes per year of mineral wool to 10,000 tonnes.
With over 40 years of experience in the insulation industry, Knauf Insulation employs almost 6,000 people and operates 28 manufacturing sites in 15 countries. The company is present in Romania since 2008. Knauf Insulation is part of Germany-based Knauf Group, which employs more than 40,000 people worldwide, operating 300 factories and generating sales of over 12.5 billion euro in 2021.
