India’s Chemfab Alkalis Defers Caustic Soda Project

PUdaily | Updated: September 2, 2024

Chemfab Alkalis (Chennai, India) has decided to defer the construction of caustic soda plant at its Karaikal, India, site. The production capacity of the plant was 250 metric tons per day. The company said there has been “a sharp drop in global caustic soda prices.”

The company in February this year commissioned an aluminum chloride plant. It expects this plant to gradually scale to full capacity by March 31, 2025.

The company also produces liquid chlorine, hydrogen gas, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite, edible and industrial grade salt, and polyvinyl chloride pipes.
