Kuraray Raising Elastomer Prices Globally

PUdaily | Updated: April 10, 2024

On April 4, 2024, Kuraray's Elastomer Business Division announced a price increase for its elastomer products, including SEPTON™, HYBRAR™, and TU Polymer, effective from April 15, 2024, or as permitted by existing supply agreements. The price hike amounts to $0.33 per kilogram ($0.15 per pound) across all regions.

The company cited escalating costs of raw materials, utilities, and logistics, reaching a level that cannot be absorbed unilaterally. To ensure sustained supply and foster new product innovation, it deemed necessary to pass on a portion of these cost increases.

SEPTON™, Kuraray's range of styrenic thermoplastic elastomers, finds applications across various sectors including consumer goods, medical, mobility, and oil modification.

HYBRAR™, a unique block copolymer with excellent vibration and shock absorption properties, operates effectively over a broad temperature range.
