KraussMaffei Adds PU Metering Pumps with Higher Flow Rates

KraussMaffei has expanded its line of HPP axial piston metering pumps tailored for polyurethane systems, introducing two new nominal sizes to address the demand for larger-volume applications such as building panels, refrigerator insulation, and district heating pipes.

Previously, the available nominal sizes ranged from 3 to 28cm²/rev, with a maximum flow rate of 40L/min. Recognizing the limitations for extensive applications, KraussMaffei has now introduced pumps capable of achieving flow rates of 80 and 155L/min at 1450rpm. This enhancement ensures comprehensive coverage for a wide range of polyurethane requirements.

The HPP and HPP2 pumps in the series exhibit similar volumetric efficiency. The HPP model, known for its broad compatibility, allows users to replace outdated units from other suppliers and is offered with a choice of shaft coupling or magnetic coupling.

The newly introduced HPP2 pump comes with a wear-free magnetic coupling as a standard feature, facilitating a closed housing design and eliminating the need for wearing seals. Notably, the redesign removes the spindle from the pump chamber, and the cylinder inclination is now adjusted through the control disk. This modification proves advantageous for handling isocyanates, where water absorption can lead to crystal formation, causing thread clogging. By relocating the thread outside the pump chamber, long-term movement of the handwheel becomes easier.

Furthermore, the bearing spacing has been increased to provide a stiffer bearing, and temperature sensors along with bearing damage monitoring are included as additional features.
