Tosoh has decided to establish a local subsidiary in Vietnam and construct a distillation separation facility (hereinafter referred to as "splitter") for crude MDI, an intermediate raw material for diphenylmethane diisocyanate (hereinafter referred to as "MDI"). This facility is intended to strengthen the sales structure in Southeast Asia, where demand growth is expected in the future, and is scheduled to start commercial operation in October 2026.
MDI is a typical polyurethane raw material that is widely used in elastic fibers used in sports shoes, fitness wear, etc., wood boards, and heat insulating materials. In recent years, demand for MDI in Southeast Asia, especially in Vietnam, has continued to grow rapidly.
By installing a splitter in Vietnam and producing MDI, we will be able to supply it in a timely manner and expand sales by capturing strong local demand.
