BASF received the 2022 “Superior” Environmental Activity Award from Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) at the Toyota Suppliers Convention event held in Tokyo. The award was given to suppliers that promote environmental initiatives throughout the product development and supply chain.
Since early 1990, BASF has been reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. BASF has set a goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 25 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050 – while growing its production volumes. Toyota and BASF share the same ambitions to develop and invest in new technologies to reach carbon neutrality. The award was given in recognition that these efforts also contribute to achieving the “Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050” - which aims to reduce the negative environmental impacts of manufacturing and driving vehicles as close to zero as possible and to make net positive impacts on society by 2050.
“We are excited to bring added value to the customers through our sustainable solutions. By doing so, we are making a positive contribution towards a better future. Our commitment to achieving carbon neutrality is not only in our words but in our actions as well. In this regard, we share a common ambition with Toyota Motor Corporation,” said Andy Postlethwaite, Senior Vice President, Performance Materials Asia Pacific, BASF, on behalf of BASF Group which provides various sustainable automotive solutions.
