China Polymeric MDI Weekly Report Sample

Weekly Market Overview

China polymeric MDI market fluctuated within a narrow range this week. Although the epidemic situation in Shanghai improved during the week, the problem of blocked freight and logistics wasn’t significantly alleviated, and there was still a shortage of Shanghai goods in the market. This week, Tosoh Ruian closed offers for polymeric MDI and suspended orders, and Tosoh’s facility in Japan was shut down for maintenance in this week. The list prices of polymeric MDI released by Chinese mainstream suppliers decreased in May, and traders had different attitudes towards the market outlook. In the first half of the week, a few traders were cautious and reluctant to sell out, with prices rising slightly; in the second half of the week, the negotiated prices in the market were generally stable and slightly down. Most downstream manufacturers maintained small orders based on rigid demand, and the overall supply and demand sides were still in weakness. As of April 29, the reference prices for polymeric MDI in China are around CNY 18,300-18,500/ton, decreasing by CNY 200/ton from the same period last week.

As of May 6, the reference prices for polymeric MDI in China are around CNY 18,000-18,200/ton, decreasing by CNY 300/ton relatively from April 29.
